I suffered excruciating nerve pain, had limited use of my dominant arm, my neck and my upper body as the result of being rear-ended in motor vehicle accident on October 18, 2002. Within a short period of time, I began losing sensation and mobility in my right (dominant) arm/hand. In the Fall of 2004, a neurologist diagnosed it as a brachial plexus traction injury and prescribed gabapentin. At his time, I had limited sensation in my arm and hand, but could not do even simple tasks such as opening doors, removing lids from bottles, carrying a bag of milk, etc. I could not raise my arm above my chest. The pain was so extreme that I only shaved once a week. I had to be discharged from two separate rehabilitation programs because I would pass out from pain when we focused on upper body work. Two different trials of Gabapentin were not successful in interrupting my chronic pain.

For three years, I endured endless visits to doctors and specialists, submitted to every conceivable conventional test and therapy, and endured the dreadful side-effects of drug after drug- all to no avail. Despite having exhausted every available conventional medical therapy, there was absolutely no improvement in symptoms or pain levels. My family doctor informed me that sadly, there was nothing else that could be done. Frankly, I could not imagine continuing to live the rest of my life wracked with pain. unable to work or even help out with chores at home.

Going back to the office of a chronic pain clinic, I saw a poster about work the Linda Culp does at A Pathway to Healing. It claimed to work on cases that were not helped by conventional treatments. I approached my physician about it and she felt it would be worth a try and she gave me a referral for Reiki treatments.

During the very first Reiki treatment in late July of 2005, there was an immediate and dramatic reduction of pain and I was able to lift my arm over my head for the fist time in over 2 years! The improvement continued over subsequent treatments and in less than 3 months I had completed treatment. The total cost of the Reiki treatments was just over $2,000 and was totally paid for by my insurance company because I had been referred by my doctor. I have estimated that the costs of my previous therapies, which had failed to help, to have been in excess of $40,000.

It had been over five years since I completed Reiki treatments and I continue to be free of pain and medication. I work long hours at the computer and participate fully in life. It should also be noted that, almost a decade prior to the injury, I had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, which caused me pain throughout the day and I had numerous trigger points throughout my body. The fibromyalgia disappeared completely after my first treatment with Linda Culp and has never returned.

Words cannot convey the immense joy one feels to be liberated from the bonds of chronic pain. I recommend Linda to everyone now.
